Fairy Tale Ball

Valentine's Day is very special for the 1st Graders at Roanoke Elementary! The children study all about fairy tales in class and learn how to waltz in P.E. Then on the day of the Valentine's parties, they have a ball in the gym! Meg got to hold the flag for her class as they marched in to the gym. Her buddy, Parker, held the class shield. (They're so cute...he lives in our neighborhood and comes over to play often. They remind me of Rudy & "Bud" from the Cosby Show : )

Once in line, the kids recited a poem then did a little dosey-do type dance. Then came the waltz! Meg's right in the middle...we had terrible seats this year...sat in the BACK! A little disappointing, but I got a few good shots. Then, to lighten the mood, they did a "stately" dance.....The Chicken Dance! : )

Parents were asked to join their princess/prince at the end of the Waltz. Meg enjoyed dancing with Daddy (while I snapped away), but by the time it was my turn, she was DONE with being the center of attention!

Afterwards, they had a reception in the cafeteria, complete with the royal throne photo op!
