"Pee-lows" and Blankies, Part II

The girls did some serious reading this spring! They both earned tickets to Six Flags through a reading incentive at school. Well, those tickets were set to expire this weekend, so we planned to go on Saturday. Evidently, Emily had enough excitement last weekend with the Great Wolf Lodge. She was not ready to go on another adventure just yet. So Dan and Meg had a daddy-daughter day full of lots of fun! Emily and I spent the day together here at the house, watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics (love our DVR!) and sewing the new pillows!

One last good-bye to the old pitiful "pee-low"..........

The girls picked out microbeads to fill their new pillows, and some snazzy, glitzy dancewear material with which to cover them. They feel really neat, but man--were those microbeads a pain to work with! We had them stuck all over everything! Emily was a great helper and very patient as we slowly filled the pillows. Here's how they turned out:

. . . and Meg chose pink.

With the pink scraps, Meg made superhero capes for her Webkins --and a matching one for herself--later that night after she got home : )

Later Sunday night......

The fancy-shmancy gold pillow lays at the foot of her bed....the tattered old pillow is resting softly between her arms with one hand reaching inside the pillowcase (she likes the coolness of the material). Maybe we're not ready for the one last good-bye just yet....
